LGBT discrimination affects everyone, not just the LGBT community. An important step for progress towards LGBT equality is to expand discourse on the far reaching economic effects of systematically devaluing a group of people. There is a substantial amount of evidence supporting the fact that when individuals are undervalued, mistreated, and otherwise discriminated against, both institutionally and personally, the economic costs are experienced by society as a whole.
Join us for short lectures and then a panel discussion from Professor Lee Badgett of UMass Amherst, Professor Deirdre McCloskey of UIC, and Christy Mallory of the Williams Institute exploring the economic, social, and legal facets of LGBT discrimination.
