Past Event: The Economics of Infrastructure

The Economics of Infrastructure

Infrastructure has always been a complex topic for economists. There is clearly a role for public institutions in the construction and operation of roads, bridges and airports. Yet, history is full of wasteful infrastructure projects squandering taxpayer money for “bridges to nowhere”. On the other hand, there has been a large push for the privatization of infrastructure construction and operation driven by advancing technology, as illustrated by the recent privatization of the Chicago Skyway.
